When Afren expanded in size, the demand for IT support swamped the capabilities of their previous IT company. So they called upon ISN to offer an alternative. ISN have an IT support team in place who are well used to the demands of the oil and gas industry.

Case study: London IT outsourcing

In January 2008, ISN was awarded the contract to run the London IT systems for Afren plc. This was awarded on the back of the successful projects that ISN had delivered over the previous nine months. Afren specifically liked ISN’s extensive oil and gas knowledge and the technical expertise that could be found “under one roof”.

The remit of the contract was to provide onsite IT technical resources in London, with replacement cover and fault escalation to 2nd and 3rd line engineers. In addition, Engineering and Project Management resources would also be required, to deal with future UK and international projects.

ISN are currently working for Afren on a number of projects in the UK, Nigeria, Ghana, USA and Cote d’Ivoire.

“Afren needs to know that its systems are in the hands of an IT company that understands Oil and Gas and has the resources to deal with a wide variety of projects.”

As a company, Afren needs to know that its IT systems are in the hands of a company that understands Oil and Gas and has the resources to deal with a wide variety of projects. We gave ISN a task. It wasn’t easy but ISN delivered exactly what we asked. We cannot ask for more.

Quick tip

Use "Intrinsically Safe" equipment in hazardous areas

It is important to use only electronic equipment (such as phones, wireless access points) that has been passed as intrinsically safe (IS) in hazardous environments like oil refineries or rigs where inflammable gas or liquids may be present.
